Marc Ira HooksAssociate Director of Missions/Director of Communication

Marc Ira Hooks serves as Associate Director of Missions/Director of Communication for Collin Baptist Association, a network
of more than 130 churches in northeast Dallas. As a seasoned photographer and communicator, Hooks enjoys using images and storytelling to document what God is doing among the people and churches of Collin County.

As a former Southern Baptist International Mission Board (IMB) missionary and photojournalist, Hooks uses his experiences to mentor church planters and pastors as they develop a vision to reach the growing international population in the DFW area. He also helps churches in the region to connect, collaborate, and engage with each other as they envision a day where every girl, boy, woman, and man within our reach experiences a living witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

For more than 25 years Hooks has created a multi-faceted career in the world of media. His experience includes not just photography, but radio, television, newspaper, video, and multimedia production. Educated at Oklahoma Baptist University, Hooks is a frequent contributor to various Southern Baptist publications, including Baptist Press. He is an active and award-winning member of the Baptist Communicators Association. And, he also frequently serves as a freelance instructor for churches, non-profit organizations, and other institutions as they seek to become better communicators and storytellers.

Hooks’ photography crosses more than 30 countries and has been published around the globe, both in print and online. His passion for Eastern Europe took him to Russia, where he traveled the country documenting some of the many different indigenous people groups across that vast country, to Europe, and beyond. His photo essays and street portraits from the United States and around the world capture a cross-section of everyday life and tell the stories of the places and people whom he has met along the way.

He and his wife, Kellye, reside in McKinney, Texas, with their teenaged son, John. They also have two adult children – Sarah Beth, and Hannah.
